The children  learn a new Makaton sign and symbol each week. They are brilliant at using their new knowledge around the school with grown-ups and their peers.

Throughout year we will recap on a previous sign and introduce a new one each week. 

Makaton is a language programme that uses speech, signs and symbols. It is important to remember that we always need to speak alongside the signs and symbols to help develop communication and language skills. 

Makaton will not only help develop these skills for all children but it will also enable children to build relationships and social interactions inside and outside of school. 

Please encourage your child to use the signs at home and join in with them too!
