The Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum is started when your child attends nursery/preschool and follows through into their first year in school.
The EYFS includes seven areas of learning and development.
The three prime areas are crucial for igniting children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning and include Communication and Language Personal, Social and Emotional Development Physical Development.
The three prime areas are strengthened and applied through the four specific areas; Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design.
Our curriculum provides children with the opportunities to learn and develop across all 7 areas of learning and development.
As a child enters reception baseline assessments are completed in line with government expectations and shared with the DfE. In the final term of the Reception year, teachers complete an assessment known as the EYFS Profile for each child, where children are assessed for all 7 areas of learning and whether they have met their Early Learning Goal. A child needs to be at the expected level in all 7 areas in order to have met their Good Level of Development. This will be shared with you. Progress within the areas of learning are assessed throughout the year and targeted support put in place if needed. This will be discussed with you during parents evenings throughout the year.
